STS Collective OpenMANET Radio – Private, Off-Grid Communications
The STS Collective OpenMANET Radio is a long-range, infrastructure-free communications device designed for privacy, resilience, and off-grid operation. Built on Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) in the 915 MHz band and preloaded with OpenMANET firmware, this unit allows you to create your own independent mesh network without relying on cellular carriers, ISPs, or centralized systems.
Power it on, and it automatically joins or forms a self-healing mesh network, enabling devices to communicate directly across nodes, even over long distances and challenging terrain.
Why It Exists
Modern communications depend on centralized infrastructure that can be:
-
Monitored
-
Restricted
-
Degraded or unavailable
The OpenMANET Radio gives you an alternative: a locally controlled, peer-to-peer network that continues operating regardless of outside connectivity.
No accounts. No subscriptions. No dependency on external providers.
Core Capabilities
🔒 Private Mesh Networking
-
Devices communicate over a locally controlled network (10.41.0.0/16)
-
No reliance on external infrastructure
-
Supports local services, messaging, and IP-based tools
📡 Long-Range, Low-Frequency Operation
-
915 MHz Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) for extended range
-
Better penetration through buildings, foliage, and terrain than traditional Wi-Fi
-
External antenna support for optimized deployment
🔗 Self-Healing, Multi-Hop Network
-
Powered by BATMAN-V mesh routing
-
Nodes automatically discover and route traffic through each other
-
Network expands simply by adding more units
