Can I add cloud storage to the security cameras I already have?
Yes. Silarius Cloud records the IP cameras you already own, of almost any brand, as long as they support ONVIF or RTSP. A Silarius Gateway on your network connects up to 50 cameras to the cloud, with no port forwarding, and plans start at $6.99 per camera per month.
The short answer
- Works with existing ONVIF or RTSP IP cameras, so there is nothing to rip out.
- One Silarius Gateway connects up to 50 cameras; Gateway V2 connects up to 200.
- No port forwarding or VPN: the Gateway connects out over an encrypted tunnel.
- Choose recording quality and how long video is kept, camera by camera.
- Month to month: cancel with 1 month notice. Pay yearly and save 10%.
- IP cameras only for now: NVRs and DVRs themselves cannot be added to the cloud.
How it works
- Check your models in the free compatibility checker. Most business IP cameras made in the last ten years support ONVIF.
- Plug the Silarius Gateway into the same network as your cameras. It finds them and connects them to your Silarius Cloud account.
- Pick a plan for each camera: recording quality (720p, 1080p or 4K) and how long video is kept.
- Watch live and recorded video in any web browser or in the iOS and Android apps, from anywhere.
Do I still need my NVR?
No. Once your cameras record to Silarius Cloud, the video is stored off site, so it is still there if a recorder is stolen, damaged or fails. Many customers keep their NVR running as well, for a local copy.
Silarius Cloud connects IP cameras, not the recorder. If your cameras plug into the PoE ports on the back of an NVR, they may sit on a private network the Gateway cannot reach. Our team checks your setup for free before you buy.
How much upload speed do I need?
Each plan has a fixed bit rate, so the upload you need is easy to work out: Mobile (720p) uses up to 400 kbit/s per camera, Pro (1080p) up to 750 kbit/s and 4K up to 1,600 kbit/s.
For example, 10 cameras on the Pro plan need about 7.5 Mbit/s of upload, plus some headroom. The compatibility checker works this out for your site.
What if I am buying new cameras?
Silarius X cameras connect straight to Silarius Cloud with no NVR, no Gateway and no port forwarding. Plug them in and they appear in your account. You can mix them with your existing cameras in one account.
Frequently asked questions
Will cloud recording work with my camera brand?
Most likely. Silarius Cloud works with IP cameras that support ONVIF or RTSP, which covers most business cameras on the market. Type your model into the free compatibility checker on silariussecurity.com/compatibility for an instant answer.
Do I need to open ports on my router?
No. The Silarius Gateway and Silarius X cameras connect out to the cloud over an encrypted tunnel, so there is no port forwarding and no inbound firewall rule.
Can I add analog or coax cameras to the cloud?
Not directly. Silarius Cloud records IP cameras, and NVRs and DVRs cannot be added as recorders. Our team can suggest the simplest way to move an analog site to IP cameras.
How much does it cost?
