About the compatibility checker
How does the checker know if my camera works?
It reads the make and model number you type, works out the device type (IP camera, NVR, DVR or analog camera), its shape and its resolution, and matches that against what each maker supports: ONVIF, RTSP, or only its own app. A Silarius specialist then confirms every model for free with your quote.
What if my cameras are plugged into an NVR or DVR?
Silarius Cloud connects IP cameras, not NVRs or DVRs. If the cameras on your NVR are ONVIF IP cameras, type the NVR model and how many cameras are on it: each camera connects to the Silarius Gateway and can keep recording to the NVR too. Analog cameras on a DVR need replacing with IP cameras such as Silarius X.
Why do some cameras need replacing?
Many consumer and cloud-locked cameras only stream to their maker’s app. They can’t send video to any other platform, so the checker suggests the closest Silarius X camera, which goes straight to Silarius Cloud with no Gateway.
How is the upload speed worked out?
From each camera’s resolution, H.265 video, 24/7 or motion-only recording and the quality you choose, plus 30% headroom. Your specialist fine-tunes it, and Silarius Cloud can record lower-bitrate streams when bandwidth is tight.
How many cameras does one Gateway handle?
Up to 50 devices per Gateway, per site. Larger sites use more than one, and every Gateway reports into the same Silarius Cloud account.
