How much does cloud license plate recognition cost?
License plate recognition is a Silarius Cloud add-on at $48 per camera per month, on top of the camera's cloud plan (from $6.99). It reads plates on every vehicle the camera sees, sends alerts for plates on your lists and lets you search by partial plate.
The short answer
- Priced per camera per month; add it only to the cameras that watch a gate, entrance or lot.
- Runs in the cloud, so it works on existing IP cameras connected through the Silarius Gateway.
- Up to 50,000 plate detections per camera.
- Alerts for plates on your own lists.
- New (beta): search with wildcards and AND / OR logic when you only know part of a plate.
- Month to month, like every Silarius Cloud plan.
Getting good plate reads
- Aim the camera at a choke point, such as a gate, entrance lane or drive-through, not across a wide lot.
- Keep the angle shallow and the plate large in the frame; a dedicated plate camera works best at night.
- Use a 1080p or 4K cloud plan on that camera so the plate characters stay sharp.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special cameras for license plate recognition?
Any IP camera connected to Silarius Cloud can run the add-on, but placement matters: a camera aimed at a lane or gate, with the plate large in the frame, reads far more plates than a wide view of a lot. A dedicated plate camera works best at night.
Can I search for a car if I only know part of the plate?
Yes. The new advanced plate search (in beta) supports wildcards and AND / OR logic, for example plates that start with CFB or DFB, end in 54 and have a 3 somewhere in between.
Is LPR included in every Silarius Cloud plan?
No. It is an optional add-on at $48 per camera per month, so you only pay for it on the cameras that need it.
