AI search: find look-alikes by picture
Draw a box around a person, car or object, and find recordings of anything that looks like it across your cameras.
By the end you will draw a box around someone or something on a camera. Then you will find recordings where something similar shows up, on one camera or many.
What you need
- You are signed in to the Silarius Cloud web app
- Cameras with video analytics (the system spotting people, vehicles and objects) turned on
Results only look similar. They do not prove it is the same person. Always watch the video yourself before you decide anything.
Step by step
- Start from a camera
Open the camera that shows your subject. It can be live or recorded video. Click the find similar objects icon in the toolbar at the bottom right of the camera box.
- Draw a box
Draw a box tightly around the person, car or object. A panel called Similar objects opens. It shows your subject, the camera name and the time. Click Clear to start over.
- Add more cameras (optional)
At first, only this camera is searched. To search more, click + Add, then Groups. Tick the camera groups you want. Click the x beside a group to remove it.
- Pick the time
Click the time filter. It says Last 24h at first. Choose Last hour, Last 24h, Last 7 days or Custom range with your own From and To times.
- Set the relevance
Move the RELEVANCE slider. Right shows fewer, closer matches. Left shows more possible matches. The count tells you how many are hidden. Each result shows a percent for how close it is.
- Sort and choose the view
Under SORT BY, pick Relevance (best matches first) or Date (newest first). Under SHOW, pick Object for a close-up or Frame for the whole camera picture.
- Watch the results
Click a result to play it in the floating player. Use Preview for a bigger still picture. Hover over a result and click Add to layout to put it in a box.
- Watch several side by side
Tick the box in the top left of each result you want. Click Open In Layout. Each one opens in its own box. Select all ticks every result. The X clears your picks.
How it works
Regular event search finds things by type, like "person" or "car". This search goes further. It looks at what your subject looks like.
For example, pick a person in a grey jacket and dark pants with a backpack. The search can find people dressed in a similar way with a similar bag. Matching small details like a backpack only works if the right person and bag analytics are on for those cameras.
This feature is still in Beta (an early test version). How well it works may change while it is being improved.
Good to know
- Pick a moment where the subject is easy to see and not blocked.
- Start with the slider to the left and a wide time range, then narrow it down.
- Sort by Date to follow a path from camera to camera.
- Hold Alt (or Option on a Mac) over a result to peek at the other view.
Common questions
I get very few or no results.
Move the slider left and pick a wider time range. Check how many results are below the relevance line.
I get too many results.
Move the slider right, pick a shorter time, or remove camera groups you don't need.
The subject isn't found on another camera.
Make sure that camera's group is added. Or try a clearer picture of the subject.
Results don't match details like a backpack.
