Confidence sliders made simple
Understand the two confidence controls: one for alerts and one for searching events.
By the end you will know the difference between the confidence setting in Silarius Cloud Admin and the confidence slider in the web app.
Step by step
- Set the alert confidence
In Silarius Cloud Admin, open the camera, click Analytics, and edit your rule. Set Confidence (20 to 95, default 60).
- Filter events in the web app
In the web app, click the bell icon. Pick an object and camera in the filter. Move the confidence slider to hide weak matches.
What is confidence?
Confidence is how sure the AI is that it found the right thing. For example, "I'm 70% sure this is a person."
There are two confidence controls. They do different jobs.
In Silarius Cloud Admin: controls alerts
This one is in the camera's Analytics tab, inside your detection rule. Smart AI detection must be on for the camera.
It only controls messages that get sent out:
- email alerts
- phone push messages
- webhooks
You get a message only if the AI is at least as sure as your number.
It does not change what the AI finds. Every object over 25% sure is still saved in the system.
In the web app: filters your search
To find it, click the bell icon in the top menu of the web app. This opens the events menu. Use the filter to pick an object, a camera and a date. Then the confidence slider shows up.
This slider hides events below the number you pick. It's only a search filter.
- It doesn't change any alerts.
- It doesn't change anything for other users.
- It resets to 50 when you sign out or close the tab.
Where the AI looks
Some cameras let Silarius Cloud read their motion area over ONVIF. For those, an object is saved only if at least 25% of it overlaps the area you care about. Otherwise it's ignored.
Common questions
I lowered the slider in the web app. Why didn't I get more alerts?
The web app slider only filters what you see in the list. Alerts use the confidence number in Silarius Cloud Admin.
Why did my web app slider go back to 50?
It resets each time you sign out or close the tab.
