Fix the focus on a camera with a motor lens
Get a blurry camera sharp again, using zoom to trigger autofocus or the camera's own web page.
By the end you will sharpen a blurry picture on a camera with a motor lens. A motor lens is a lens the camera can zoom and focus by itself.
What you need
- A camera with a motor (motorized) lens
- You are signed in to the Silarius Cloud web app
Step by step
- Open the PTZ controls
Move your mouse over the camera. Click PTZ on the camera toolbar. A window opens with zoom buttons and a zoom speed.
- Zoom to wake up autofocus
Click Zoom in or Zoom out. This changes the lens. A camera with autofocus then focuses again by itself.
- Set the zoom you want
Zoom to the level you like. The camera focuses one more time.
What works from Silarius Cloud
Silarius Cloud supports the lens features that are part of the ONVIF standard. ONVIF is a common language many cameras use. For anything more, you use the camera's own web page.
Autofocus doesn't work? Set focus by hand
Set the focus by hand on the camera's own web page.
- Silarius X cameras: in Silarius Cloud Admin, open the camera's settings. Go to the Troubleshooting tab and use Generate link. It opens the camera's web page.
- Other cameras added by ONVIF: use the camera's web address (HTTP access address) to open its web page.
Some cameras won't show live video through the generated link. The focus buttons should still work.
Good to know
- After you fix focus on the camera's web page, watch the camera in the web app to check it worked.
Common questions
Can I set focus by hand from the web app?
No. If autofocus doesn't help, set the focus on the camera's own web page, as shown above.
