Connect cameras safely without port forwarding
Why Silarius X cameras and the Silarius Gateway are the safest way to connect cameras, with no open ports.
By the end you will know the safest way to connect cameras to Silarius Cloud. You will see how to keep your network closed to outside attacks.
The problem with open ports
Port forwarding opens a door in your router so the cloud can reach a camera. Every open door is a way into your network.
The safer way: plug and play
Silarius X cameras (plug and play) connect out to the cloud on their own. They make an encrypted tunnel straight to Silarius Cloud servers.
- No open ports on your side. Your network stays closed.
- No port forwarding rules to set up.
- Video goes straight to Silarius Cloud. No outside servers sit in the middle.
- The tunnel uses AES-256 encryption.
This is the most secure and reliable way to connect a camera.

How is this different from a camera maker's "P2P" app?
Many cameras have their own remote-view feature that goes through the maker's servers. Silarius Cloud does not use those. The connection is Silarius Cloud's own, straight from the camera to Silarius Cloud servers.
Already have cameras?
Use the Silarius Gateway. It does the same thing for your own existing cameras, any model. It makes one encrypted tunnel for all of them. See What the Silarius Gateway is.
Lock down a remote site
With no open ports, you can keep your site's network shut to the outside. You can still watch live video through the encrypted tunnel.
